Publications

Association analyses based on false discovery rate implicate new loci for coronary artery disease.
Nelson, CP, et al.
Nat Genet. 2017 Sep;49(9):1385-1391. doi: 10.1038/ng.3913

Phenotypes

  • Coronary artery disease (SOFT definition)

SOFT CAD includes HARD CAD (fatal or nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)) as well as chronic ischemic heart disease (IHD) and angina.

Project

The UK Biobank CardioMetabolic Consortium CHD working group was formed to assess the use of self-reported and hospital record data on CAD in UKBB and define the relevant case and control subgroups to undertake genetic analyses of CAD risk.

Experiment summary

This study analyzed associations with the SOFT CAD phenotype (see above) in 10,801 individuals from UK Biobank diagnosed with SOFT CAD along with 137,914 controls, followed by meta-analyses with CARDIoGRAMplusC4D 1000 Genomes–imputed GWAS or the MIGen/CARDIoGRAM exome chip study. The CARDIoGRAMplusC4D 1000 Genomes-based GWAS is available in the Portal as a separate dataset.
