Experiment summary

This study determined genetic associations with three sleep disordered breathing phenotypes: the average oxyhemoglobin saturation of an individual across an entire sleep episode, after removing artifact and measurements during wake; the single pointwise minimum oxyhemoglobin saturation using the same criteria; and the percentage of a single sleep recording where an individual has hypoxemia (defined as oxyhemoglobin saturation < 90%). All phenotypes were rank-normalized, adjusting for age, age2, sex, age x sex, BMI, and BMI2. Mixed linear models (GEMMA) were used and were adjusted for genomic-control at a cohort level before running METAL.
