Phenotypes
- Metabolic syndrome (latent liability across BMI, waist circumference, fasting glucose, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes)
Experiment summary
This study conducted a large multivariate GWAS (Genomic SEM) of metabolic syndrome on 1384348 individuals of European ancestry, identifying associated loci with enrichment in brain tissues. The authors integrated transcriptomic data to prioritize genes, evaluated polygenic risk, and used PRS-PheWAS and Mendelian randomization to examine associations beyond cardiometabolic disease.
