Largest East Asian T2D GWAS now available

Today's release adds several new datasets to the Type 2 Diabetes Knowledge Portal. Notable among them is the AGEN and DIAMANTE T2D GWAS dataset, including over 433,000 individuals of East Asian ancestry (Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, and Malay). The study was performed by the Asian Genetic Epidemiology Network (AGEN) working with the Diabetes Meta-analysis of Trans-ethnic Association Studies (DIAMANTE) consortium, which examines the genetic contribution to T2D across diverse ancestry populations. These results have been shared with the T2D genetics community even before publication of the paper (Spracklen C, Horikoshi M, Kim YJ, Lin K, et al., Nature, in press) and are both integrated into the T2DKP interfaces and tools and available for download from the Downloads page.

We have also added datasets relevant to complications of and risk factors for type 2 diabetes:

  •  GIANT 2017 smoking-adjusted GWAS, a meta-analysis of over 241,000 adults for anthropometric traits adjusted for smoking status (Justice et al., Nat. Commun. 2017)
  • IAMDGC 2013 AMD GWAS, an analysis of age-related macular degeneration and two of its sub-types in over 57,000 subjects (>7,600 cases) from the International Age-Related Macular Degeneration Genomics Consortium (IAMDGC) (Fritsche et al., Nat Genet. 2013)
  • Primary angle closure GWAS, a study of primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) in over 6,500 PACG cases and nearly 20,000 controls

In addition, we now provide for download a file of gene-based burden analysis scores for atrial fibrillation, as generated by Choi, Jurgens, et al., Circ. Res. 2020

All of these datasets are documented on our Datasets page. Please check them out and try out our new user contact form to let us know what you think!
